Our Background
Chances are good, that if you’re reading this you already know some of our Crew at SOS and might have even worked on boats with us.
We are all Mariners, who work at sea, with 500T tickets and lower tonnages.
We work the same boats as you and deal with the same challenges. The only difference is that we answer regulatory and safety questions every single week.
Our students and shipmates were the ones who suggested we started offering this service because they saw how much work we were doing to support other mariners.
There are ways and methods that TC likes to be approached. We’ve learnt how to do it the hard way – building character through suffering.

It can be overwhelming at first and sometimes it’s nice to have a friendly person who can show you the ropes and make you feel as comfortable on the water as you do for the rest of your life.
When we’re not working in commercial boats or teaching mariners from every sector of the industry we drive around our own boats for fun. We’d love to get you set up and ready to comfortably and safely enjoy whatever level of boating you like best.

So many aspects of the marine industry are kind of opaque and mysterious and getting a job is definitely one of those areas that feel unconquerable sometimes.
It’s not as bad as it seems, you just need to have the right approach and speak to the right people and we can set you up with that.

Maybe you are part of a whole crew of new instructors, race committee members or fishing crew or guides or rescue personnel and you want to have some practical training for your crew.
Get in touch, we’ve done this for a range of clients from yacht clubs, to government organizations, to volunteer organizations. The classes are always fun and are kind of a treat for us too.
